Now, it’s not like this show was one of a kind. Heck, the T-men played 289 dates in 1964 alone. What makes this one so special is that it’s one of only a handful ever captured on tape. The magic moments captured during this show are many: from the opening chords of “Baja,” awash with a banzai pipeline worth of reverb, through the verbal playfulness of “Little Queenie”; from the successful “Trashmenification” of something as goofy as Herman’s Hermits’ “I’m Henry VIII, I Am” to an absolutely insane careen through “Surfin’ Bird,” and the show-wrapping spectacle of a falsettoed-to-the-max Tony Andreason giving Little Eva a run for the money on “Keep Your Hands Off My Baby,” this limited-edition, strings ‘n’ skins-thrashin’, in-their-prime performance by the Trashmen will plaster a smile all over your kisser.
