Chief among these groups was The Remains, forged in the cavern-like confines of The Rathskeller where fans would line up for blocks, hoping to catch one of their raucous sets. A four-piece unit adept at adopting R&B standards as well writing their own material, their local fame never spread nationally as many predicted it would during their brief 1964-1966 tenure. Rock scribes dubbed them “America’s lost band,” in recognition of their woefully unrealized potential. Collecting six stellar tracks from ‘65-’66, this 10" is aural evidence of the band in their prime. Mastered from the original analog session tapes, it is filled with dance floor classics like the “My Babe,” “Mercy, Mercy” and the title track.
